THE HAMBURG YEARS

There will never be a complete and detailed film about what happened in the rough German port of Hamburg in the Sixties. This is as good as it gets. It tells about early rock ‘n’ roll in the words of the people who played there and stayed there - including Kingsize Taylor, Horst Fascher, Lee Curtis and Tony Sheridan. With rare Beatles film, relive the raw excitement at the birth of Merseybeat. Includes great original footage from stars who appeared at the Star Club.

Little Richard - Ready Teddy/ The Remo Four - Peter Gunn/ Ray Charles - Busted/ Fats Domino - Blue Monday/ Jerry Lee Lewis - Three Hit Medley/ Gerry & The Pacemakers - Dizzy Miss Lizzy/ Bill Haley - See You Later, Alligator/ David Garrick - Dear Mrs Applebee/ Ian & The Zodiacs - Livin' Lovin' Wreck/ The Liverbirds - Peanut Butter/ The Everley Brothers - Bye Bye Love/ Carl Perkins - Matchbox/ Bo Diddley - Hey! Bo Diddley/ Tony Sheridan & The Beatles - My Bonnie/ The Beatles - Red Sails In The Sunset.

Buddy Holly & Tommy Allsup

FILM 1 - Here's the authentic story of the final day of rock legend Buddy Holly before that dreadful plane crash in the winter of 1959. The story is told by his band - Tommy Allsup/ Waylon Jennings/ Carl Bunch, plus Peggy Sue Gerron, Travis Holley and the airline.

FILM 2 - 50 years after Buddy appeared in Liverpool, Tommy Allsup joins Texan singer Johnny Rogers in the city for an anniversary tribute concert. Supported by Mal Jefferson and Allan Schroeder from local band, The Black Knights, this is a great live show, showing how brilliant the music still is and will always be - after what Don McLean called 'the day the music died'.

Features all of Buddy Holly's biggest hits

BEAT CITY (1963)

Daniel Farson made the first national ITV documentary about Merseybeat in 1963. By the time he'd got down to the Cavern, The Beatles had gone. Here's the bands they left behind - Rory Storm, Faron, The Chants, The T.T.s - all in the original Liverpool venues. The film caused a sensation, and explained how it all came about.
